The ’00s Danish hardcore scene is by certain segments of the international hardcore scene so often overlooked, and by half of those in the know dismissed as ‘a crusty scene’.
Nowhere other than the Ungdomshuset scene Dangerhouse, Dischord and KBD inspired hardcore punk was played with such vigor and tight musicianship between ‘99 and ‘05. Not only did those bands play great songs, live they always would sound at least as good as on record, if not better. No matter how sped up or glued up they were.
I think most of the bands on Kick’n’Punch Records were so great that I could have posted any song from any band and you’d have liked it.
I went to see the final Amdi Petersens Armé (RIP) show in the Ungdomshuset (RIP) and not only did A.P.A. rip it up, also Young Wasteners and this band with like a 13 year old version of Darby Crash called Arrigt Antraek ruled that night. A shitty ass crust band with a distorted cello also played for what felt like an hour or two, I think their name was AVA or something like that… Avoid at all cost if they ever put out a record or still play out live. Hjernespind will put out a DVD from this show with the Amdi Petersens Armé, Young Wasteners and Arrigt Antraek sets that were broadcasted on tv. If you look at this show closely you will see me sing along to all the A.P.A. song in Danish without me knowing one word of Danish.
This song from No Hope For The Kids is from a 45 that every hardcore kid worldwide that loves Adolescents, Angry Samoans, Zero Boys, Germs, etc. should have in his collection. You’ll have this song stuck in your head after just one listen. Repost this for all your friends. Also check out the other bands on Kick N Punch and Hjernespind Records, Amdi Petersens Armé, Young Wasteners, Gorilla Angreb, Hjertestop, and the other No Hope For The Kids stuff.
